FO Friday: Sunflower Bag

Hello everybody.  I'd like to take a moment to say how excited I was to check my blog this morning and find out I have 71 followers!  Thank you all so much for taking the time to read and comment on my blog.  I really appreciate it and am coming up with a giveaway for the near future as a thank you.

I am pleased to share a happy bag I made for a very special little girl (one of my amazingly clever, kind and beautiful God-daughters) whose birthday was this week...

As you can see, B was keen to help with a small Ta Daaaaa post.

The basic pattern will be familiar to many of you from the lovely Tangled Happy website.  I modified it quite heavily because I was working in DK (Stylecraft Classique Cotton, Sunflower) and prefer to work bags in the round so that I don't have to seam the bottom and risk my rubbish stitching coming apart.

I have to say, my little pickle was rather taken with this and wanted to keep it, although she did get bored of the modelling and decided to try a new effect...

Unfortunately the present was a day late because I suddenly realised that for it to be of any use to a busy 8 year old about town it really needed to be lined.  I got out my trusty sewing machine and my stash of fat quarters (from when I tried quilting) and managed to do a reasonable job, I apologise for the useless picture but just so you can see because I was quite pleased with it...

And off it went, with some pretty things inside for a gorgeous little girl.

I'll be home soon with some pictures of my Beautiful Bloggers Blanket squares (I am not convinced they are very beautiful but hey, I tried), in the mean time I am hoping to get over to Tami's Ami's later today for a browse of everybody's lovely projects.  Inspiration for all!

  10. Outstanding final outcome! Did you sew together the lining first and then sew it into the bag via attachment at the top?
    Your daughter is gorgeous!

  13. Oh I bet the recipient of this bag will be thrilled over the moon! I'm actually using yellow yarn to make a teddy bear for my granddaughter who moved to Ohio. The older one wants a brown one. It's so fun to make something for a little child! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
