One A Day

I am suffering from a case of UFOitis, it is very distressing.  I have bags full of unfinished projects stashed all around the house and they're beginning to weigh me down.  I want to start new, shiny projects.  Oh the joy of the finished project, like the one I will show you on Friday, finishing something pretty and popping it in a jiffy bag for somebody is brill.

I recently joined a Ravelry Group called the One A Day Group.  It is a brilliant idea from Gingerbread Girl's lovely blog.  The idea is that you complete just one motif or stripe or whatever of a larger project.  I love this idea because it will leave me guilt free time to work on smaller projects like this one, which I am itching to make for the girls (found via Tangled Happy).  One stripe of my granny stripe doesn't take long and can be easily hooked in front of the TV later on in the evening when I'm getting too tired for tricky or new patterns.

The only trouble is that I really want to start a shiny new large project, not finish off the languishing ones.  The lovely people over there keep putting all sorts of pretty ideas into my butterfly brain.  But no, I will commit to the ones I have started, if I follow the programme they'll be done and dusted in three weeks or so.

Wish me luck.

  1. I love your granny stripe. Although I've started a new project I still have a couple of WIP that I intend to tag onto my One a Day project too.

    Thanks for joining in xXx

  2. I had a terrible bout of sartitis in the spring and now have four or five WIP bags stashed around the cottage! I am determined to get them done before I start another project but somehow I feel another pair of socks coming on ;)

  4. I had 5 wip's last week when I saw the One A Day on ravelry. I thought "should I , shouldn't I?" Well I did join and start(gasp) a new project, I made myself a promise to work on one from the wip's a day as well as the new One A Day and have now finished two of my wip's and am happily working on my grandala blanket for the group. It actually motivated me to get my butt in gear and finish some my projects because I so love to start new ones. I enjoy your blog and am going to follow it. Thanks for reading mine as well.

  6. Just think of all those shiny new projects you can start soon, AND you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you've finished your WIPs too! :) My WIP list is unfortunately getting longer and I'm constantly fighting the urge to start something else new, lol!

  11. I have exactly the same problem with the temptation of new things, so I tend to keep my projects small (socks mostly). The one a day project will help, although there is a lot of temptation when I see the beautiful patterns everyone else has picked

  12. Do you know, at school I never succumbed to peer pressure but here and now I'm beginning to see it's benefits as an excuse for naughtiness, or even just starting yet another crochet project.... hardly outrageous behaviour!

Thank you so much for becoming followers, I'm very excited, I thought this would be more or less a private enterprise! Lots of you ladies are in my google reader list already waiting for me to get round to moving the list over to my blog (it's in another account), so I'll update that soon.

    Thanks for your lovely comments.

  13. fab project, I am doing a granny stripes blanket as part of my one a day project, a couple rows a day is nothing and like you say can sit in front of the TV and crochet them up. good luck can't wait to see how your blanket comes out.

  15. Ah the exquisite granny stripe, I am so drawn to them. I have started one too, got through 16 colours and realised I had a ball missing then had to wait two weeks for it to arrive. Thankful it arrived yesterday so I am back on an even keel again! Your stripe looks gorgeous and how exciting to think it will be finished so soon!

  16. Haha! UFOitus has hit me BIG time! I just started another today... What is wrong with me?!

Anyway I LOVE your OaD CAL project! I'm recognising the beautiful stylecraft colours there! Don't worry about new projects, as long as you do one stripe a day this one WILL get finished, not sure about the others though ;-)
